        Scrap Electric Motors We Buy

There are a wide-variety of electric motors available but some of the ones we recycle include:
  • Washing machine motors
  • Alternators
  • Starter motors

How To Sell Scrap Electric Motors

Where Can Electric Motors Generally Be Found?

When referring to electric motors, we are talking about any motor used in any item to provide power. This can range from household items such as washing machines and microwaves through to car engines and alternators.
You will find a wide-variety of metals being used in electric motors and you can usually use the colour to identify what you have. Most popular, is the silver electric motor which is most commonly made from aluminium. The components within a motor are usually copper although sometimes you will find aluminium inside as well.
If you work with cars or in industries such as heating, plumbing or electrical it is likely you will come across a wide variety of electric motors. In addition, building tradesman and hospitality suppliers will also find a large stock available.

Where Can I Scrap Electric Motors?

We have one scrap yard in Portsmouth and another close to Southampton and Winchester in Bishops Waltham. Taking your scrap electric motors directly to a yard will enable us to check the quality and weight before offering you a price on site.

We also offer a collection service for larger quantities of scrap metal. Give us a WhatsApp +4915217797651 to discuss the scrap metal collection service in more detail

Used Laptops Batteries Buy & Sell

Used Laptops Batteries Buy & Sell

Instead of throwing your dead laptop batteries in the garbage and contaminating the environment or trying to find a safe electronics disposal site for them, I'll give you $ for EACH OF YOUR DEAD BATTERIES! That's right! Just text me at ........... with your address and I'll happily come to your door and pay you for each of your batteries. Don't worry if you only have one...which most people have anyway...I'll take it! I'm local...don't be misled by my cellphone number! Give me a call! Thanks for reading!

This guide will explain the basics of Lithium Ion battery technology and the criteria that should be considered when purchasing a used battery for your laptop computer. The basic information regarding Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) and Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) batteries is the same for all laptop computers. Buying a used laptop battery can be a great bargain or a terrific waste of money. Take a few moments to educate yourself on Lithium Ion batteries and the information that should be in a battery listing before purchasing a used battery.
Lithium Ion batteries have become the preferred power source for most current laptop batteries. Older laptops used NiCad batteries, and more recently laptops have used NiMH batteries. This guide will primarily discuss Li-Ion batteries because they are the predominant  battery technology for current generation laptop computers.
Li-Ion batteries combine the best qualities of alkaline batteries with the best qualities of rechargeable batteries. Li-ion batteries provide constant voltage during discharge and do not suffer from the memory effect that plague Ni-Cd batteries. Li-ion batteries also provide the highest available energy density of any available battery technology (i.e. provides more power per ounce as compared to NiMH or NiCad) Li-Ion batteries also have a low self-discharge rate (about 5% per month) compared to Nickel Metal Hydride (about 30% per month) or Ni-Cd (about 20% per month). A little known characteristic of Li-Ion battery technology is that Li-Ion batteries lose approximately 15% usable capacity each year (depends upon storage temperature). Because of their characteristics, Lithium Ion batteries can operate for between 300-500 cycles and last for about 5 years from the manufacture date.
Many Li-Ion batteries have a set of built in LEDs to determine battery charge status. Just push the button and you can readily determine the charge state of the battery. The LEDsDO NOT provide any information regarding the health (or capacity) of the battery. It only indicates the battery's charge state. If the battery only holds a 360 mAH charge, all the lights will illuminate, but the battery only may only have 10% of it's original capacity.
An average laptop battery operating time is a tricky number to accurately quantify. Battery operating time is dependent upon power settings selected by each individual user and the processor speed. A battery that operates for 2 hours on one laptop with maximum energy saving options selected (e.g. dim screen, reduced processor speed, disk spin down, etc.) may only operate for 1 hour on the same laptop with no energy saving features selected.
A simple test that I use for determining battery capacity is to play a DVD. This is the most energy intensive test that you can perform on your laptop. I usually set up this test with all energy saving features disabled (disk spin down = off, full bright display, processor performance = highest, no sleep, etc.) This provides the worst case scenario. Normal operating conditions will usually be better than my test conditions. I would rather have a customer get a battery that was tested to operate for 90 minutes and actually operates for 2 hours (under normal conditions), than for the customer to get a battery that only operates for 1 hour.

I mostly got these batteries by seeing and asking for them. New cars wreck batteries pretty quick because the car computer never really turns off. So if the car isn't driven regularly it'll over-discharge and sulfate the battery.
They give me their dead batteries also.
I picked up a few behind service stations and parts stores where people had orphaned them. A few came from my marina next to the dumpster, more came from the marine supply store. I told them I was experimenting with desulfating batteries and they told me to help myself to their scrap pile. Some came back to life from various magic treatments and I gave them to friends or built them into projects.
I finally got around to taking the bad ones to the scrapyard and damn!
Here's what the robo-cashier at the scrapyard gave me for my load of toxic waste!
Batteries are worth real money now, if you can find the right buyer.

The market goes up and down. Right now the dollar is low and China and India are buying scrap like crazy to sell it back to us as products. That drives up scrap values. Our military shooting and attracting bullets all over the world doesn't hurt the value of lead either. Check the values online or in your paper, if it has a commodity markets listing.
You'll get less than this, because you're not selling a train car full. Unlike retail economics, in collection economics smaller quantities are worth less per pound.
If you're in a city with a port that ships to China, expect to get a higher price than elsewhere.
If you have a huge quantity, bargain up for a higher price. The yards that load ships won't usually bother with you unless you've got truckloads, but if you do, they'll pay accordingly higher.
"TL" means "Truck Load". "LTL" means "Less than Truckload".

If you run into a scavenger with a truck or a shopping cart full of cans, ask them what the best places are to sell different kinds of scrap.
Now call those places, other local scrapyards and recyclers and ask them if they buy what you have and how much they pay.
Within 5 miles of me (and the port of Oakland) I heard prices ranging from
"No", a battery", "fifteen cents a pound" and "twenty cents a pound".
They're allowed to offer you whatever they want. It's a business and they have expenses.
They'll ask you how much you have. If you say you have more, they may offer a better rate.

Stop at the scrapyard office and ask them what to do. We waited in a line of other trucks for a while til one of those guys told us that since we just had batteries, we could drive right in.
Once inside the yard, they had us load our batteries on a cart, push the cart onto a scale.
They asked me for ID, my address, and had me sign a form promising that I was the lawful owner of the stuff I was selling them. There's been a big problem in the city with "copper miners" stealing metal wires, pipes, etc. to recycle for money, so there's a law requiring this form.
Then they printed me a reciept with a barcode at the bottom.

"Behind the woman in yellow is a little room like a closet. Scan the barcode there and the ATM will give you your money. You'll get the dollars, but you won't get the coins."

Here's the ATM, and the sign saying that they'll write you a check for the coins if you really want them to.
I hadn't looked at the reciept, so I was pretty amazed when hundred dollar bills started spewing out of the machine. I guess those batteries weighed more than I thought they would.

I was very surprised, and pissed, to find how very little I was being given to current, soon to be ex, battery buyer. I don't mind someone making some money, but I don't like getting ripped off. And docking  for batteries with a brake in the side of it, called three different buyers yesterday and none of em did that either.Scrap yards usually won’t accept other types of batteries, as they are too difficult to scrap. On the iScrap App you can locate and contact scrap yards anywhere in your area and get the latest battery prices for your batteries for scrap. Scrap yards generally do not want lead battery that are leaking or may have the potential to break open so they can maintain a safe working environment.
Car and truck batteries normally weigh between 30 and 75 pounds and are always a great way to make a couple of extra dollars when you are going to cash your material in

Used Compressor And Scrap Compressor Buy And Sell

Used Compressor And Scrap Compressor Buy And Sell
Refrigerant flows through the compressor, which raises the pressure of the refrigerant. Next the refrigerant flows through the condenser, where it condenses from vapor form to liquid form, giving off heat in the process. The heat given off is what makes the condenser "hot to the touch." After the condenser, the refrigerant goes through the expansion valve, where it experiences a pressure drop. Finally, the refrigerant goes to the evaporator. The refrigerant draws heat from the evaporator which causes the regrigerant to vaporize. The evaporator draws heat from the region that is to be cooled. The vaporized refrigerant goes back to the compressor to restart the cycle.
I am new to the forum and I love the place already. Really useful information from very nice people ...
I am getting started with recycling and have some questions, I still haven't been able to figure out clearly, please guide me ...
1) What sort of compressor have copper and what have Aluminum ?
I read somewhere that the smaller ones 8,10,12 lb have Aluminum and Larger Ones 20,24,26 lb have Copper
Someone else told me the 110 V are Copper and 220 V are Aluminum ...
Is there any reality to this ? How do you judge which ones would have copper ? Is there a way to tell / estimate without opening / cutting ?
2) What is the average amount of Copper in a Compressor ? 5% ? 6 % ? 10 % ?
Say if I have a compressor weighing 10 lbs, how much is Steel, How much is Copper and How much is Oil ?
3) What is the difference between Oil and Oil Free ? Is the make different ? Does one have more copper than the other ?
4) At what price do the scrap yards sell these compressors sealed units ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.

Hello! and thanks for the great question! I’m glad you like by blog, and I hope you keep reading! With that being said, here is the deal with refrigerators:
The problem with refrigerators is the refrigerants, aka freon. Some people have the illusion that it is like breathing mustard gas, which couldn’t be farther from the truth! Freon is not that bad for people to breath. Yes, it isn’t good to breath, but it isn’t any worse than second hand smoke; so don’t worry about getting hurt if you break the freon lines.
The real concern with freon is its detrimental effect on the ozone when released. IF you are EPA certified, and you have the necessary equipment, only then can you legally pull the freon out of any scrap appliance, including.
Now the question most important question you can ask yourself is “Do I want to unsafely let freon out into the atmosphere?”
If you do, and get caught by the EPA, then you will have to pay a serious fine; Over $25000. (I haven’t heard of somebody getting into trouble for this while scrapping… yet.)
The freon lines are the copper lines in the bottom and back of the refrigerator, and the black condensor/evaporator coils. If you cut one of these lines with a bolt cutter, the refrigerants will come pouring out of them, along with some of the lube/oil from the compressor. If you cut the lines, you will buy cheap paroxetine online want to have the fridge in a place where you can let that oil pour out if it decides to. Then harvest the copper lines… The condenser coil is usually made of something other than copper, but check that for copper too (sometimes aluminum).
Inside of the compressor (the hollow black steel ball) is a motor with some copper windings, and a whole lot of oil. If you have the will power, take an angle grinder, sawzall, ect, and cut that sucker open along the welding joint. Sell the motor as is, or cut out the copper for scrap. If there is any non-magnetic stainless on the refrigerator, pull that off. I have found on occasion the inside of the refrigerator (the rails and shelves) to be aluminum  . Pull those it. Any wire you can manage to find should get cut off too.

My scrap yard, and possibly yours too, will take all refrigerators with the freon still in them. In that case, take anything valuable that you possibly can off the refrigerator without breaking the freon lines. This just makes for a cleaner work space, a cleaner environment, and cleaner conscious. If your scrap yard will NOT take refrigerators with freon, you will need to make a decision. You can cut the copper tubing lines, and possibly get a fine (I’ve never seen anybody get a fine, however), or you can call around to other scrap yards… In my experience, they will usually buy it when you bring it in, but not if you ask over the phone. The most time-consuming, but most profitable option, is to see if it works and sell it as a used fridge! Plug it in and see if anything is wrong. If not, you can always try to sell it on craig’s list. In almost all of my experiences, however, there is something seriously wrong, and its only value is scrap. Remember, that if you can sell it along with the mixed metal, to fill the inside with metal too. That way the refrigerator won’t take up too much volume. Thanks for the question and Good Luck Scrapping! If you or anybody else has any questions, and you think I may be of assistance, please ask!

While some locations where you can find scrap are fairly obvious, there are also sources that many novice scrappers might not consider. Remember that only 30% of scrap metal is currently recycled, so a lot of material is still urgently in need of recovery. Whether winning the more visible material or tapping into those otherwise unnoticed sources, the secret of making a profit with scrap metal is to establish a regular supply.
We’ve all seen those hideous statues hidden in our garage or basement that someone thought would make the perfect lawn ornament or living room décor.  Unfortunately they thought wrong which is why it luckily landed in your possession. Don’t frown every time you go to Spring clean your garage at the little copper gnome smiling up at you.  Go ahead and cash it in as scrap copper! You’ll breathe a lot easier – unless the Mrs. catches wind of it and you didn’t ask first! When you are searching for all types of metal to bring to your yard, copper is usually one of the most common metals that scrappers are looking for. Not only is it worth a lot of money, but it is common in a lot of different places you can find scrap copper. Below we list some of the common places and appliances you can find copper.

Iron, WhatsApp +4915217797651

I've been experimenting with metal scrapping lately. I have a day job so I am considering this to be more of a "hobby". It started when I went for a walk near my office during lunch time and found dozens and dozens of old and new soda cans in a nearby wooded area where people seem to have been dumping trash for millenia. Over a relatively short period of time I was able to collect there in other similar areas about $40 worth of cans. Not much, but not bad either, considering that I am not planning to make it my day job. Anyway, now I want to see if I can expand this to other types of metals, but to make it as profitable as possible without (i) spending huge amounts of time and gas or (ii) turning my backyard into a scrapyard. I don't have a truck, just a station wagon, and I don't have hours to spend driving around looking for scrap. I do, however, occasionally see some stuff sitting at the curb in our neighborhood on a trash pickup day. I also take apart computers and computer components.
I guess this rules out steel and anything bulky regardless of what it's made of. Instead, I should be looking for copper, brass, and aluminum.
What I am looking for are resources, hopefully in one place, that would describe what type of "expensive" metals can be found in what common types of things people throw away. For instance, does a simple lawnmower contain anything other than steel parts? If I take apart a desktop computer, are there any types of cables that are worth salvaging? How much work is involved before I can take something to a scrapyard?
I don't know if it's realistic to expect a single resource covering all these questions, but in any case, I'll appreciate any help!

 Aluminum
Some more common sources are frames of lawn chairs, beverage cans, storm door and window frames, disposable turkey and pie pans, foil, etc. The second type of aluminum sources are referred as extruded aluminum (as opposed to cast aluminum) because of the way the products are produced.
Where to find scrap aluminum? As a scrapper, the top two things that probably come to mind when discussing aluminum is either foil or soda cans. Small aluminum items are found here and there throughout the day but like copper, the chances of finding a pile of aluminum at every stop is slim. Within this article on where to find scrap aluminum, I want to tell you about a few locations that you typically wouldn’t consider being a great source for scrap aluminum. One of my first suggestions on where to find scrap aluminum is to contact all of the churches and local halls in your area. Churches have dinners or potlucks all of the time. Halls offer people a chance to host their own wedding, baby shower, cabaret and so forth. The thing that both locations have in common regardless of the type of event taking place is food.

 Brass
Finding Brass to scrap is easy if you know where to look. With
brass being one of the higher paying scrap materials, finding scrap Brass in
New Jersey can be tricky. When you are
scrapping any type of metal it is important to think outside the box. One
important factor is maintaining relationships with small businesses. Also be
sure to keep an open mind, there are plenty of different materials that can be
scrapped. Contact local business owners and contractors to offer
free pick up services and also hand out business cards to local supply shops.
Talk to a manager or owner about free removal of parts and materials they no
longer need like furnaces and water heaters or even small replacement parts
that they can not sell.
Craigslist is a very good place to find almost anything for free or a low price. Search through some ads and negotiate with people to make the most money from other peoples junk. Things like door knobs, brass plated silverware and plates and old bed frames will usually be made of brass. Again, keep your eyes peeled for anything else that can be scrapped. Anything that will have aluminum, copper, brass or steel can be scrapped for cash.
Finding brass shells at shooting ranges is easy with
approval from a manager. Contact local ranges to find a good time to come in,
usually before closing time or early in the morning. By offering to pick up
brass shells for free, you will be saving the ranges from paying additional
employees. Be sure to remove any primer on the brass shells before scrapping them.
scrap materials. Before you start digging into piles of
goodies make sure you ask home owners and especially companies. Places like
pawn shops, repair shops, auto shops and appliance stores may be your best
choices for dumpster diving. Don’t forget to keep your mind open; things like
computer parts, wires and electronics can also get you money at the scrap yard.

 St steel
Iron and steel scrap is a vital raw material for the production of new steel and cast-iron products.   The steelmaking and foundry industries in the United States are highly dependent upon the ready availability of scrap from manufacturing operations and from the recovery of products that are no longer used or needed.   The steel industry has been recycling steel scrap for more than 150 years.
Steel scrap recycling conserves raw materials, energy, and landfill space.  The domestic steel industry recycles millions of metric tons per year of steel cans, automobiles, appliances, construction materials, and other steel products.  The primary source of obsolete steel is the automobile.  The remelting of scrap requires much less energy than the production of iron and steel products from iron ore.  Consumption of iron and steel scrap by remelting reduces the burden on landfill disposal facilities and prevents the accumulation of abandoned steel products in the environment.
CMC Recycling in Independence is a full-service metals recycler that welcomes all commercial and industrial businesses, brokers, dealers and individuals looking to sell their scrap metal.  We work closely with each of our customers to determine your scrap management requirements and how best to serve you. OLD STOCKS USED SPARE PARTS AND SCRAP BUYER

USED SPARE PARTS AND SCRAP BUYER
All scrap metal dealers will need to apply to their local council for a licence to operate under new rules which come into effect today  .The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2017, which clamps down on rogue traders, will also give local authorities and police new powers to inspect premises where they suspect illegal activity.
Compressor Scrap and Motor Mix Scrap suppliers who are looking for genuine scrap buyers can contact us with your scrap details. We are in need of 50MT of compressor scrap and 50MT of motor mix scrap on regular monthly basis. We afford best competitive price for your best quality scrap. Interested scrap suppliers can contact us.Today marks a very significant milestone in the fight against metal thieves
The Act demands a greater level of awareness and responsibility from traders, ensuring they verify who they are doing business with, but it also protects law abiding recyclers from unscrupulous traders.
It is vital that scrap metal traders are aware of the changes, including the new licensing regulations.
Metal thieves cause misery for thousands of people, whether targeting the rail network, power cables or telecommunications and today’s changes signal the introduction of a more robust licensing scheme to be monitored by local authorities.
  • All scrap metal dealers can apply for a licence from 1 October.
  • If a scrap metal dealer who is registered under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 1964 or Vehicles (Crime) Act 2001 applies on or before 15 October they will be deemed to have a licence until the local authority issues a licence decision.
  • Local authorities will complete checks to assess applicants’ suitability to hold a licence between 15 October and 1 December.
  • If a registered scrap metal dealer does not submit an application on or by 15 October their deemed licence will lapse on 16 October. A deemed temporary licence which has lapsed does not give rise to a right to appeal. The dealer must submit an application and wait for a licence to be issued before they can trade legally.
  • A local authority can impose conditions on a deemed temporary licence pending an appeal for the refusal of a licence.
  • Scrap metal dealers who are not registered under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 1964 or the Vehicles (Crime) Act 2001 can apply for a scrap metal dealer’s licence from today 1 October but must wait for a licence to be issued before they can trade legally.
  • The offence of buying scrap metal for cash comes into force on 1 October.
  • Local authority officers and police officers will have the right to enter and inspect from 1 October.
  • The majority of the other enforcement provisions within the Act will come into force on 1 December.

I looked at these yesterday as we were about to ship them off and thought 'This is ridiculous!' Why don't we let our customers have a crack at these. So here you are. 2 laptops for $35. While they last.
What you won't get are Dell E-Series. That is because we refurbish, sell and warranty those units. What you will get is all the stuff we don't sell. Don't expect a perfectly working i5 laptop. There is a reason these were sent to the scrap pile. I see everything from missing keys to cracked screens. There is real value here. Many of these could be parted out and sold on eBay for a profit. Some may work fine and just need a hard drive and OS.
I don't see many AC adapters. If we have one with the laptop you will get it. If we don't you won't. Some of these have to have the hard drives destroyed. If we do that we will include the hard drive caddy if at all possible. These are all sold as is. The shippers will pick them off the pallets in the order sold. Please don't make any special requests. You cannot come to the warehouse and pick through them. That would not be fair to everyone else.

USED LAPTOPS BUY AND SELL.
Hopefully these ideas have helped you find a way to keep your favorite laptop alive in some way. May it be with you forever, whether externally on your desk or internally in your heart. If you can't fix your laptop and don't want to strip it for parts, there are several DIY projects that can help you make better use of the hardware that's still functional. What you can and cannot do will, of course, depend on what your laptop can still do. If its motherboard is dead, nothing will be an option. Virtually anything else, however, can still keep it functioning on some level.
If you've lost the trackpad, keyboard, and/or display, you have a lot of options.
I'm sorry to hear about your laptop. Clearly you both were, uhm, close. Although this is an emotional time and it may be hard to hear, few options involve restoring your laptop to its former glory. Sometimes you just have to move on. But that doesn't mean your laptop can't find new life in other ways. Here are the many options available to you.
Unless your laptop's motherboard has died or you've rendered your display useless, fixing your "dead" laptop isn't out of the question. In fact, it's probably realistic. You could pay for a professional repair service to handle the problem for you, but often times the cost will be higher than the actual value of your machine. If you can't afford a new one, or simply don't want to spend money unnecessarily, you can often fix the problem yourself. Assuming you know what's actually broken and needs replacing, just follow these steps.
  1. Order a replacement part. You may need to call the manufacturer and provide your model number to figure out the specifications for the part you need to order. While you can often order that part directly, you'll probably find something cheaper on (consider the used and refurbished gear in some cases if it saves a lot of money) Alternatively, if you've got a Mac you can turn to the part
  2. Figure out how to replace the part. If you're just replacing a hard drive or a stick of RAM, chances are the instructions are in the manual that came with your machine. This is because RAM and hard drives tend to be user-replaceable parts. This is not always the case, but you'll generally find that to be a problem more often with Apple laptops than any other brand. Either way, you'll find many repair guides for Apple and standard PC laptop hardware at . If not, do a web search for "repair guide" and the name of your model. There's always a chance one of your fellow internet citizens has posted some form of assistance.
  3. Order the part you need and follow the guide to replace it. (This much is probably pretty obvious.) Be sure to keep track of all the screws you remove. I find it helps to separate them into an array of small bowls so you can easily locate the different types and don't risk accidentally brushing them off your worktable. Hopefully once you're finished you'll have a working laptop again. It won't last forever, but it'll keep your computing companion alive a little bit longer. If your laptop can be an organ donor—which is to say, you've decided to open it up and remove the still-functioning hardware inside of its casing—there's a lot you can do. You can sell the parts individually on, or just put the entire computer up for sale at a reduced price (usually around half of its going rate as a used product) while noting that it isn't fully functional.
You can also keep many of the parts you dissect for other uses. If they still work, the hard drive, optical drive, RAM, and display can have their uses down the line. In most cases, the hard drive and optical drive can be placed in their own external enclosures to be used as individual devices on another machine. Losing a laptop sucks, but gaining a couple of handy peripherals is a better outcome than nothing. RAM is always handy to keep around in case you can use it in another machine. That machine may not be your new computer, but it makes a nice gift to a friend who could use the extra boost. Finally, the display can be. Additionally, it's one of the more expensive components so you may want to sell it locally on remotely on  (and sometimes even
